10 Hilarious Glitches That Made Good Games Amazing

1. Deus Ex Human Revolution €“ Taking Out Your Main Rival With A Comical Haymaker

Deus Ex Human Revolution - Adam Jensen Anyone who was anyone hated the boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. For a game which let you talk your way out off any problem and approach the challenges you€™re confronted with in a startling number of different ways, sticking unavoidable, unexpected encounters smack-bang in the middle of the narrative was incredibly frustrating, especially if you hadn€™t built yourself up as a combat expert. I€™m pretty sure the developers knew this though, so let you have some payback via some wonderful glitch-work near the end of the game. Come a certain point, you €“ as the fantastically spectacled Adam Jensen €“ have waded through all the bad and the good of the Human Revolution world, putting down those irritating bosses and jumped from tall buildings with your electronic parachute just because you could. Then you€™re confronted with what you assume is the hardest boss in the game €“ Namir, a pretty formidable chap who€™s been built up as a badass throughout the game. Needless to say, if taken straight, his boss battle is pretty difficult €“ he shoots you, punches you and ambushes you dressed as a statue. Yet some people figured out there was another way to beat him €“ namely, via the one-punch knockout power-up. Usually players took this upgrade at the start of the game, because there€™s nothing more hilarious than Hollywood-punching someone into unconsciousness, especially if it€™s just a random passer-by in the street. If you timed the punch just right, you could slap all that was holy out of Namir in scenes so hilarious, you had to play it twice. I can€™t describe how cathartic the whole enterprise was €“ here you had an unavoidable boss, built up with bucketloads of dramatic foreshadowing, and you just cold-cocked him into oblivion. It was so sublime you had to change your trousers afterwards. What are your favourite game-improving glitches? Fell free to comment!
