10 Hilariously Bad Super Mario Rip-Offs

Walnut JZ dropped 3D Cartoon Land: Safari on the Apple Store back in 2012, and anyone who was paying even the slightest bit of attention may have noticed that the game looked somewhat familiar. That's because the game, which sold for $0.99, was about as close to a copy of Super Mario Land 3D as was digitally possible.

The description for 3D Cartoon Land: Safari described how "this unique game requires you to quickly jump over obstacles and collect coins. But you are not secure in this beautiful cartoon world. An angry tortoise could bite you. An easy and smooth control makes it very funny and to jump and run."

Ok, so puzzle platformers all have a few things in common, but the colors used in this games palette, as well as many of the shapes of the background and items, were a bit too reminiscent of the game that clearly inspired its creation.

The main character is even dressed just like Mario, though he appears to be missing the mustache that sets Mario apart from the majority of video game mascots from the '80. The game wasn't something Nintendo let slip by unnoticed, and it wasn't long before Nintendo filed a complaint.
