10 Hit Video Games That Were Totally Critic-Proof
1. Days Gone
While many critics liked some of the ideas in Days Gone, they felt that it under-delivered on its potential.
Plenty of reviews claimed that the game didn't feel particularly innovative and lacked original ideas beyond the inclusion of a bike in a zombie game.
This lack of ingenuity stretched to the combat - also seen as uninspiring. Multiple bugs didn't help the game's perception by critics either.
Additionally, reviewers had an issue with was the dull story as many felt that the narrative dragged on and wasn't well written.
The criticisms didn't stop Days Gone having the biggest physical sales launch of the year in the UK when it came out, while in Japan, it even outsold the successful God of War.
It seems the initial hype surrounding the game prior to release was too much to be slowed down by negative reviews.
