While you might look at Blood and think that a game this chaotic and gore-soaked would have a plot about as thin as a piece of paper, you'd actually be mistaken, for while the game itself doesn't actually deal out much more information than "There is a thing, go kill it quickly", the accompanying website for Blood laid everything bear.

And it turns out you're kinda the bad guy.

You play as Caleb who is on the warpath after being betrayed by other members of the cult he was a high ranking member of. The cult worshiped a deity called Tchernobog who wasn't all smiles and sunshine. Since his fall from the top Caleb is out to destroy the cult entirely. However at no point is he remorseful for his past involvement in the cult, merely that he's pissed off they cast him out.

It's easy to forget this as you scream through the game covered head to foot in viscera, but let it be known, we are no savior. In fact, Tchernobog wants to use our rampaging power as it realizes how violent and destructive you are, so when you've got a deity saying "Woah ok pal" maybe it's best to rethink your choices.
