Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the best survival horror games of all time and inevitably all games in the genre were compared to it for years to come. Cold Fear unfortunately released a couple of months after RE4 and was overshadowed by it, fading into obscurity over the years and being forgotten by the masses.

The game follows a United States coast guard member named Tom Hansen who is called to a distress single of a gargantuan Russian whaling ship stranded in the icy waters of the Bering Strait. He discovers a horrific parasite outbreak has transformed the ship's crew into zombie monstrosities and Tom is tasked with ensuring the parasitic organism never reaches land.

Played from a third person perspective or from fixed camera angles, you control Tom as he explores the infected whaler which rolls with the tide, causing objects to slide around the surfaces and making aiming more difficult. The ship's sway can actually throw you overboard if you do not manage to secure a grip on something in time.

Living in the shadow of Resident Evil and being slammed by critics for being too short, Cold Fear only sold around 70,000 copies which is a shame considering its innovative ship movement system and solid gameplay.
