10 Hotly-Anticipated 2016 Video Games You Should Be Worried About

10. Battleborn

While Gearbox struck gold with its Borderlands series, everything the studio has worked on since that hasn't taken place on the planet Pandora has varied widely in consistency. Unfortunately for the upcoming Battleborn, nothing that has been shown so far has accurately displayed what the game actually is. Although with every preview, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford sings its praises, the supposedly lighthearted shooter feels like it's well and truly stuck in 2008. With jokes that fall flat and character designs that would have been refreshing five years ago, what we've seen so far of Battleborn doesn't exactly scream 'originality'. Don't get me wrong, I want more arena shooters on consoles, however this latest effort from Gearbox doesn't look as if it can mesh its old-school principles with the contemporary industry model. Battleborn probably stands a chance if it releases as a download-only game or adopts a free-to-play model just to get it in front of gamers over PS Plus/Games With Gold, but as it is, it looks like a release that's destined to struggle.
