9. Assassin's Creed: Empire

Ubisoft vs. Kotaku: The Battle of the Leaks.

The latter struck just after AC: Unity was doing the rounds in 2014, confirming that the then-titled Assassin's Creed Victory would be coming a year later. This turned out to be Syndicate (because no way in hell could Ubi use the word 'victory' after the mess of what went before), and yet again Kotaku have leaked that Ubisoft are planning on rebooting the series in Egypt.

This falls in line with a number of rumours from years past that centred around the idea of Egypt being a 'clean slate' for the series, restoring the same feel as the original and giving us a story that would be rooted in an ancient Templar vs. Assassin narrative framework.

Multiple screenshots and what appears to be a in-progress teaser have all since leaked, yet Ubi are clearly not in a position to show anything concrete, and will most likely be holding off until they can do so on a far bigger stage.
