10 Hotly-Anticipated Xbox One Games Coming In 2016
8. Cuphead
You only ever need one little spark to ignite the metaphorical light bulb inside your noggin that gets the creative ball rolling, and such a sentiment has never been more true for development tag-team Chad and Jared Moldenhauer. The two Canadian brothers - inspired by the success of indie games like Super Meat Boy and Braid - took their love of 1930s cartoons, run-and-gun platformers and 'Boss Rush' gameplay and mixed it all together in Cuphead's er, cup. The result is a charming platformer that looks like the result of a three-way collaboration between Disney, Warner Bros. and Fleischer studios, only with a more sinister tinge. https://youtu.be/7wexnjZ7fs8 In fact, the level of authenticity is so high that Cuphead's been given an authentic, 1930s-esque film filter glossed over the top to truly make it feel like you're playing through an episode of the Looney Toons or Popeye each time you pick up the controller. Let's not forget the meat on those bones, either; combat. Cuphead's main means of felling his animated assailants is through shooting projectiles out his hands in a gun motion you instantly recognise from the days of pre-school lunch breaks. Studio MDHR have perfectly captured the child-friendly-but-slightly-sinister feel of America's Golden Age of Animation, and its release in 2016 can't come fast enough.
