2. The Last Of Us 2 Is Coming Straight After Uncharted 4
Naughty Dog's output used to be three games and a kart racer, before moving onto an entirely new franchise. However, since Uncharted 4 got greenlit and is about to be released next year, they seem more than happy to break the mould, also revisiting a title that - I'd say - doesn't need a sequel whatsoever. The leak came from Nolan North (voice of hundreds of characters, most popularly Nathan Drake), as he mentioned during a panel back in June that "I know they're doing The Last of Us 2" in reference to his upcoming projects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1-n2J7jA7w Troy Baker (another incredible performer, playing Nate's brother Sam in the new game and Joel from the first Last of Us) was later contacted for comment, to which he simply stated, "I know nothing". Honestly though? That feels like damage control. Troy's a huge gamer, and it feels like he'd rather mislead fans for the sake of a nice surprise than contribute to a broken PR cycle. Likelihood? 8/10 Sadly, for those who want it to stay a solo instalment this looks to have too much forward motion to keep it a secret. Earlier this year there were rumblings that many renders for Ellie's new character model were already complete - although good luck finding them now, Naughty Dog went on full lockdown after-the-fact. Uncharted 4 sees writers Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley ply their The Last of Us scriptwriting skills to a far darker script and presentation than the original trilogy, and if an all-round more emotionally effecting direction is where the studio is heading, a return to 2013's phenomenal game would fit right in.
