The second Spider-Man game to feature on this list, 2000’s Spider-Man is a frequently underappreciated gem from the PS1 era that doesn’t get as much attention today as it deserves.

Featuring an assortment of iconic villains to fight alongside cameos from other Marvel characters, wall-crawling and web mechanics that added an extra layer to combat, and containing narration from the late Stan Lee, there was a lot to adore about this title.

However, even those who played this game have likely never experienced it in its What If mode.

Much like the Marvel comics, this mode offers an alternative take on the game’s events. Although the main plot plays out the same, everything is taken a little less seriously this time around. With self-aware dialogue from characters, references to Aliens and Raiders Of The Lost Ark, and a lot more spontaneous dancing than anyone would expect, this mode is an absolute joy to play from start to finish.

To witness this magnificent mode in all its wonderful silliness, players need to enter the code “GBHSRSPM” on the PlayStation version (or “UATUSEES” on the Nintendo 64) while in the cheats menu and start a new game when the words “What If Contest” appear onscreen.

Spider-Man fans won't be disappointed with this mode.
