9. Left 4 Dead 3

The Left 4 Dead franchise is perhaps the best in its genre, combining close quarter zombie action with solid characters and a great sense of humour. The series doesn't take itself too seriously and neither does its fanbase, but as good as mods are, everyone is waiting for a third proper instalment. In fairness to Valve, they are playing their cards close to their chest, as they do with most games (more on that later). There's been no official announcement of a sequel to Left 4 Dead 2, not even a sniff, but development team insiders are adamant it'll happen, as the co-creator of Counter Strike, Minh Le even claims he's seen the game and told goRGNtv:

"It wouldn't be any news if I said yes, I saw it. It looks great. So I was really excited when I saw that."

Le is a big name in the industry and it's a bold claim to say he's seen the game in action. It's the best indication so far that Left 4 Dead 3 is underway, at least until we get a full reveal trailer.
