7. Destiny 2
What happens when something is built up so much that it can't possibly live up to the weight of its own expectations?
Destiny - that's what happens. It was supposed to be an industry-changing release - and some players adore it - but there are very vocal critics who say it's a case of squandered potential, where the hype just glossed over a number of major issues. A sequel could not only change these issues but build upon the successes of the original, to produce a game that is closer to what was originally expected. It seems that a follow-up is likely too: the contract deal between Bungie and Activision states there will be multiple titles while the Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg let slip during a post-earnings financial call that work had already begun on a followup. During the same call, Hirshberg revealed the average player spends three hours a day straight playing the original, so there's still a market for this. Whether the next Destiny is a part two or with some other subheading the likes of which we've seen on the DLC packs is up for debate, but Bungie aren't deviating from their 'ten year plan' any time soon.
