10 Hugely Loveable Gaming Bosses We Didn't Want To Kill

9. Beauty & The Beast Unit - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots

The Beauty and the Beast Unit from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots are a group of four female soldiers who serve as bosses throughout the game. Despite their inhuman appearance, they are in fact human soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of what they've experienced on the battlefield (each one has their own savage back story), and their elaborate suits help make them some of Snake's most brutal (if also unstable) adversaries. Though the strategy to take down each of the four femme fatales varies wildly, there is a common format to them: Snake first has to shed each one of their mechanical armour, at which point they will appear before Snake in a skintight catsuit. This is where the player has a choice: they must put them down before they can make physical contact with Snake (or suffer damage), but can do so either lethally or non-lethally (in the form of tranquilisers). So, while it isn't strictly necessary to kill them, you may well not be aware of that, especially during the first fight against Laughing Octopus. Why is it tough to kill these broads? Well, for one thing, they're essentially innocents, automatons who, through the use of nanomachines, are placed under Liquid Ocelot's control to try and bring down Snake. They're slaves, even prisoners of war, and on top of that, once they get out of their armour, each is rather vulnerable and, having been rendered from real-life models, extremely beautiful. One might rather take them out for dinner rather than pop a can in their dome...after a long period of therapy, of course.
