10 Hugely Popular Licenses Video Games Can't Get Right
6. The Avengers
The Avengers are yet to star in a big movie tie-in release of their own but by pooling together the games created to cash in on their respective films, some horrific results can still be uncovered. Unlike the movies which simply could not be more acclaimed, the games are awful. Thor: God Of Thunder was released as a tie-in to the Nordic God's debut film but it features none of the action or excitement - it's painfully dull and severely hampered by glitches and bugs. Iron Man hasn't fared much better in the gaming world either. Two Iron Man games have been released in conjunction with films and both have been met with awful reviews. Repetitive, lackluster gameplay and hideous graphics combine to make games which simply are no fun whatsoever. Captain America has also had a tie-in game which is surprisingly the best of the bunch, although that isn't saying much. His shield allows for more options in combat, adding variety to the game, and the game is built around Cap's abilities, making the most of the character. It's still not great but at least it's not completely broken. These awful tie-in games might be the reason fans are yet to see an official Avengers game; after all, Marvel doesn't want to tarnish the name of their biggest film series. Given the quality of these games, perhaps that's for the best.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
