10 Iconic Video Game Mascots That Don't Matter Anymore
1. Ezio Auditore Da Firenze
Ezio Auditore da Firenze has not appeared in a main Assassin's Creed game since Revelations in 2011. That's a long time of absence for the beloved assassin who became the recognisable mascot for the Ubisoft franchise.
First introduced to gamers in 2009 in the hugely popular Assassin's Creed II, Ezio became the pinnacle protagonist that every following assassin is compared to. Not only is Ezio regarded as the true mascot of the series, but he is also considered more relevant than Altair - the main character in the first ever Assassin's Creed game.
Ezio is also the only protagonist to have his own story span more than one game. Brotherhood was released in 2010, and Revelations in 2011 - where we play as an older version of Ezio.
The Assassin's Creed series continues to trudge along, with now eleven main installments. Yet, no other game has ever eclipsed the beauty and power of Assassin's Creed II, and no other character has matched the charm and emotional depth of Ezio. But, a return to a new Ezio story seems highly unlikely, therefore stressing that he no longer seems to matter anymore.
