10 Iconic Video Game Scores That'll Give You Goosebumps
4. God Of War 2018 - Bear McCreary
2018's spectacular God of War soundtrack was composed by a gentleman named Bear McCreary. Now, if you're wondering where you've seen or heard that name before, he's the guy responsible for music featured on AMC's The Walking Dead show, among countless other TV, film, and gaming projects.
McCreary is a true industry giant, and when his many and varied talents were put to use in Kratos' latest and greatest outing, "BOY!", did he deliver.
An absolutely epic soundtrack, it would not be out of place in a colossal Hollywood blockbuster movie, featuring full male chorus lines, whole choirs singing with so much passion that they themselves could well be the very Gods they tell of.
However, harsh drums, deep vocals, and rousing battle themes clash quite starkly with the game's quieter, more reflective moments.
In a track like Memories of Mother, the war drums are silent and the men sent home as a mournful, sorrow-filled female vocal cuts through the violins and harps to weave a tale of tragedy, and leave the player with teary eyes and a heavy heart.
Until the combat starts and the drums come back, obviously.
