10 Iconic Video Game Weapons (That Actually Suck)
5. UMP-45 - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Another Valve Corporation title to make this list, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was launched in 2012 as the fourth edition in the series, and came with a Counter-Terrorist marine armed on the front cover of the game with a UMP-45.
The gun has appeared in every single edition of the franchise, is one of the few SMGs to be available to both the Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist forces, and is regularly shown in promotional materials and compilation clips of the game online.
However, one look at just how much play time the gun has in comparison to the M4 or AK-47 should tell anyone just how useful the UMP-45 really is in reality.
The spray pattern and damage produced by the gun in 1.6 and Source gave the gun some viability, however the decision by Valve to widen the UMP's spread and general accuracy essentially made the weapon completely redundant. CS:GO revolves around short, sharp bursts of play and not the spray-and-pray techniques so prevalent in the games prior in the franchise, all of which combines to make the UMP-45 feel like a gun out of place.
