10 Iconic Video Game Weapons (That Actually Suck)
6. Assault Rifle - Halo 3
The Halo universe has brought with it some of the gaming world's most beloved weapons, with Halo 3 boasting a plethora of these. Everything from the Sniper Rifle to the Energy Sword are fun to play with and more than effective in taking down enemies, should a player have a reasonably decent level of understanding of the game.
There is, however, one noticeable exception to this rule: the Assault Rifle. Plastered on every poster, cover and piece of marketing going for the game, anyone not well versed in Halo could be mistaken for thinking this was some sort of elite grade S-Tier weapon.
And whilst it serves as a sort of baseline all-round weapon that anyone can pick up and play with, there's just nothing exciting to speak about when it comes to the Assault Rifle in Halo 3. Known as The MA5C Individual Combat Weapon System in the game, it fires 32 rounds and offers a medium to low level of damage with its automatic firing mode.
There are better alternatives for close combat encounters, and the weapon is one of the worst picks going for trying to take down enemies from further distances. It should've been the Battle Rifle on the cover, really.
