10 Iconic Video Games That NEED A Remake

7. Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve

Alright, so you haven't played Parasite Eve. That's ok, hardly anybody did, but that's because it was so wildly ahead of its time it just didn't really work in 1998. It would work in 2019 though.

On the off chance you have played it (firstly, apologises for lumping you in with everyone who hadn't, we're bros now) you'll know that it's nearly a masterpiece. Well, it's nearly a masterpiece in so much as a man caught in a storm without an umbrella is nearly dry. It's actually largely borked by a system that jumps between turn-based and real-time action, but the core game beneath is stunning.

You've got an M-Rated Japanese RPG, set in New York, centred around themes of the paranormal, featuring randomly exploding people, and it's a sequel to a book madder than a bag of smashed crabs. Few titles before or since bring that much to the table, and it wouldn't even take too dramatic a reworking to finally realise its potential. There is an astounding level of detail to get your teeth into here, but at the time it was always ruined by painfully long (and mood-shattering) load times.

A complete modern overhaul would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any RPGs currently on the market, and would enable the developers to explore the many, many, many elements of the original novel that had to be cut to fit into one Playstation disc.
