10 Important Life Lessons Learned From Video Games

I was playing The Lion King SNES. It was the final level and I was battling Scar. I was about to pull the finishing move when.... the screen goes black and the game starts over. I realize my cousin had pulled the restart switch. If you don't know The Lion King SNES didn't allow you to save. So I was denied sweet victory that would take me hours to even attempt at again. I was furious. While this particular fury was at my cousin, there have certainly been many times since where video games have frustrated me. I felt challenged by this angst, and over time learned to cope with these frustrations. Now I often laugh off any frustration I have in a game. For me games have provided a challenge to sharpen my ability to keep calm. Yet some behavior issues in teenagers have been associated with games. Anger management is not quite a life lesson games currently teach, but rather one games NEED to teach. We've all witnessed a ferocity in other gamers, heard hate speech rants, witnessed forums explode with disgruntled fans and watched individuals manage to fill 40 minute videos with their rage. Anger Management is vital to gamers. For others, the distaste for gamer rage provides motivation to master anger management. Some games are specifically crafted to teach anger management to those who struggle deeply. Either way, for the better of games players have to learn to control themselves.
