The Level: Alien "Auto"topsy Part III

The final level in The Simpsons Hit & Run is the most difficult in the game, and while this is something most gamers should expect, it was definitely made to be too hard. Many would argue, it was so difficult, the game stopped being fun, which is never something a game developer wants.

In the level, Homer finds his father at the playground with his WWII Jeep. The two hop into the car and the player then has to navigate through the streets of Springfield to locate nuclear waste while racing against Kang and Kodos' spaceship.

The reason this level was so difficult had to do with the time element and the fact that you're constantly avoiding a spacecraft, which you're also intent on destroying. Many a player rage-quit the game after attempting this level over and over again.

The Tweak: Focus on straightaways & shortcuts, NOT the main path.

The way to beat Alien "Auto"topsy Part III is all about preparation.

You need to familiarize yourself with all the shortcuts and pathways on the roads of Springfield, or you will find yourself driving blind. Fail this and you'll be trapped, in the wrong place or otherwise screwed, time and again. Before you attempt the mission, fully explore the town and identify all the roads, so you can avoid redoing this mission numerous times.

You'll also need to take advantage of straightaways, as the jeep is incredibly fast. Be careful of hard landings, or you could lose your payload.
