The Longest Journey is a true classic that's fallen into relative obscurity over the years. Released in 2009, TLJ is a point-and-click adventure game about a young art student (April Ryan) who finds herself traveling between two worlds - her world of technology, called Stark, and a parallel world of magic, called Arcadia.

The sequel, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, is a victim of its own ambition. Not content to be another point-and-click title, it introduced frustrating and completely unnecessary combat and stealth mechanics that dragged down the entire experience.

Set several years after the events of the original, April had made a life for herself in Arcadia until it was upended by the invasion of the human-supremacist Azadi Empire. She joined a resistance of mostly non-humans and became their most infamous agent and spy.

This April is determined, but jaded after years of being forced to live in the shadows of her new home. The resistance is losing and she's well aware of that fact. But she still charges forward, giving 100% to the fight for freedom. This April is a warrior and a fascinating, surprisingly natural evolution of the character.
