One of the most beloved and highly cherished sagas in gaming, the Legacy of Kain series has laid dormant for a staggering sixteen years now.
Focusing on the age-old rivalry between vampiric overlord Kain and vampire-turned-wraith Raziel, the series was a Gothic-horror fantasy epic that stood out amongst its contemporaries for its bold aesthetics and deep, complex narrative.
Nowhere were those qualities on display more than in Soul Reaver 2, a beautifully dark and satisfying action-adventure title that puts you in the shoes of Raziel as he travels the land of Nosgoth, searching for Kain and trying to learn about his previous life as a human.
Full of challenging puzzles, gnarly combat and a time-bending narrative that constantly flings you from past to present at a moment's notice; it's so chock full of interesting ideas and concepts that it remains captivating to this day.
It's truly a shame that given how many classic games are getting the remake/remaster treatment, the fans of the Legacy of Kain series have found their pleas falling on deaf ears. A constant flux of rumours and speculations have fanned the flames over the years, but an official reboot has never come to fruition.
