10 INCREDIBLE PS2 Games You Still Need To Play
3. Persona 4
The PS2 was awash with JRPGs, but none were quite so unique or as beloved as the Persona series. With 2016's Persona 5 (and it's recent expansion The Royal) making waves in the West, there's never been a better time to go back and play one of the finest chapters in the saga.
When compared to its successor, however, Persona 4 is a much darker and more sombre affair. With a bleak rural setting and murder-mystery plot at its core, it may be a little jarring to those who are used to Persona 5's overly stylised and optimistic nature, but it's still every bit as enticing and addictive.
There's the usual diverse cast of colourful characters, a bounty of intriguing side-quests and a whole host of that off-kilter weirdness that only the Persona series can conjure up. With everything from creepy ghosts to sentient teddy bears and even inter-dimensional travel via television sets, Persona 4 certainly excels in the weirdness department.
Original PlayStation 2 copies are getting harder to come by, but for those who own a Vita (all four of you), there's a remastered and remixed version of the game known as Persona 4: Golden which is an absolute must-buy.
