10 Incredible RPGs You Probably Missed

10. Robotrek (SNES)

292fd5b7-4306-40f3-81cc-1deca497988f This first RPG is one I recommend to any of my friends whom love Pokemon. This is because Robotrek is literally the sci-fi version of Pokemon, using many of the same mechanics except you fight with robots instead of fake animals. And honestly, who doesn€™t want to fight with robots? Plus there€™s actually a bit more customization than pokemon offers, but that€™s because you build your robots rather than capture them in the wild. The only difference in terms of the battle system is that your character levels up instead of your robots, and with leveling up you are able to improve the equipment you make for your robots and allocate programs to that robot that function like attributes and gives you power over your robots attributes and not an internal game system. The story also happens to be one of the more inventive ideas, so it€™s sad to see such a great system and game be tossed to the side since it was so heavily overshadowed by Pokemon. Robotrek was introduced with the Super Nintendo and was never remade, which unfortunately means you€™ll need an SNES to be able to play this one, but it€™s well worth it. If they had ever brought this one back, it would be perfect for a more meta form of Pokemon battles online with attributes and abilities you completely control. Unfortunately thanks to the massive success of Pokemon this game was overshadowed and it never got the chance to shine since then.
