Here€™s one for the record books. Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun started development years ago and was then cancelled in 2012 without the public€™s knowledge. It wasn€™t until recently, when a NeoGAF user pulled off some amazing sleuthing and discovered its existence. Shortly after, Square-Enix themselves came out to confirm the games existence and subsequent cancellation. Apparently they put a large amount of work into this game before Square-Enix decided it couldn€™t reach their sales expectations and canned it. It was being developed by two separate studios, with Climax Games making the single-player and Psyonix Games working on the multiplayer, and was going to contain a new protagonist to distance itself from previous games in the series, while also being a sort of continuation and reboot. The gameplay sounded awesome, like an adult Legend of Zelda, in which you would traverse an open world, exploring dungeons, solving puzzles and battling huge bosses. You would even go so far as to shift between two worlds, like in A Link to the Past. All is technically not lost though, the games multiplayer portion lives on and is still in development; it has been retitled to Nosgoth. Sadly, the single-player portion, Dead Sun, is most definitely cancelled. Considering how much work was supposedly done on the game before its cancellation, perhaps it could be revived if Nosgoth does well. Nosgoth is seemingly still a long ways off though, so perhaps Dead Sun€™s chances of revival are as dim as its title. Would you have played any of these long lost games?
