8. Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Project H.A.M.M.E.R. was another of those games announced prior to the launch of a system that built up a fair bit of initial hype before ultimately being cancelled. The Wiis controller at the time was still new and everyone was trying to think up ways to use it, and a beat-em up game in which you wield a giant hammer is an oddly straightforward choice. The concept is simple and could easily show off how the controller could be used and no doubt would be a fun title. It also had a gritty, sci-fi style that came at a contrast to Nintendos more family friendly offerings, proving the system could house more mature, first party titles. Of course though, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. was cancelled only a year or so after it was initially unveiled. Seeing as how the Wii took off so quickly with a mainstream audience, it was speculated that Project H.A.M.M.E.R. was cancelled in favor of having the team work on something more accessible. Considering how much flak Nintendo now gets for relying too much on old IPs or catering to a casual audience, its a shame Project H.A.M.M.E.R. never got to see the light of day; a new, mature first party title is something that certainly wouldnt hurt Nintendo.
