10 Incredible Video Game Intros (That Made You Stop Playing The Second Time Around)
6. At Least The Music Is Still Nice - Persona 5
Persona 5 is considered to be one of the best entries in the franchise. Similarly, its intro received a lot of praise when the game came out, mostly for its captivating storyline paired with beautiful visuals.
The opening delivers a lot of exposition about Joker’s past and the Metaverse, but it does so with enough fascinating mysteries and fun character introductions that it doesn’t feel like a slog. Instead, you’re curious to learn more as the game slowly opens up more complex areas for exploration.
This said, after the story has already been told, coming back to the intro has to be the most annoying part of repeated playthroughs. The game is already dialogue-heavy as is, but the intro is a capital offender in that field, banking all of its entertainment value on the story.
Besides lengthy conversations that you’re likely to skip like a maniac, the rest of the opening consists of very limited dungeons that don’t allow you to interact with most of the game’s mechanics, turning almost two hours of gameplay (five if you count getting access to free roam) into an unbearable snoozefest.
Well, at least the soundtrack is still a banger.
