10 INCREDIBLE Video Game Secrets Found By Hacking
1. Minus World - The Legend Of Zelda
No matter how old or beloved a particular video game is, hackers and dataminers are still able to find new details about them we never knew existed. And in January of 2019, YouTuber and hacking whizz SKELUX was able to manipulate his way into the 'Minus World' of the original NES version of The Legend Of Zelda, which launched in 1986.
Derived from a glitch found in the first Super Mario Bros game, a minus world is essentially a byproduct of old 2D game design in which dumped data translates into somewhat playable levels that were never intended to be in the game. While most of these areas can by found by utilising glitches, reaching Zelda's secret world required a different tactic.
In short: the game's map is a grid measuring 16x8, but due to the programming, it's capable of being 16x16. In order to venture into the great unknown, the hacker claimed to spend 6 hours breaking down the code so he could pass through the boundary.
What he found was a very glitched but playable version of the game that includes reversed enemies, items, NPCs, and an awful lot of gravestones - creepy.
