10 INCREDIBLE Video Game Secrets Found By Hacking
5. An Announcer That Insults You - Wave Race 64
The year 2001 was eventful in media. It was the year of Shrek, The Fellowship Of The Ring, and Monsters, Inc. It was the year Enrique Iglesias let us know he'd be our hero. And it was the year Nintendo released Wave Race Blue Storm on the GameCube.
The sequel to 1996's Wave Race 64, this well-received jet-ski racer was the fun, fluid racing game you'd expect. It even had a list of cheats that could be used to unlock the library of courses and levels. But arguably one of the best cheats in the game didn't surface until about a decade after the game's reveal.
By performing a series of elaborate actions, user Raoul Duke discovered you could change the game's typically upbeat announcer to one who'd just insult players incessantly.
Constantly berating players by telling them they've made a "poor choice" when selecting their character, calling them "pathetic" and generally mocking them, this Easter Egg is simply hilarious.
To unlock it for yourself, you'll need to head into the audio settings, press Z until the audio wave shows a certain pattern, then input a code.
It's unclear how this hacker found this Easter Egg, but his work is greatly appreciated.
