9. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Even accepting that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is rather infamous for its tedious opening sequence, the majority of players didn't get much further through the game before calling it a day.
Trophy data has a whopping 55% of players not even beating the game's sixth story mission, "Where Do the Bees Sleep," and given that players sticking to the critical path will hit this mission about three hours into the 30-hour story, that means most players quit MGS V around 10% of the way through the cinematic campaign.
This is a little more understandable when you consider that this mission sees players having their first major encounter with the game's most feared recurring enemies, the terrifying Skulls.
Even so, accepting the Metal Gear Solid franchise's doggedly loyal fanbase and MGS V's best-in-class action sandbox gameplay, it's maddening that so many took early leave of it and missed out on everything else it had to offer.
