10 Incredible Video Games That Should've NEVER Worked
9. Lonely Mountains: Downhill
In a world of (mostly) 2D racers like Trials, Pumped BMX and Urban Trial Tricky, Lonely Mountains: Downhill might seem out of place.
It doesn't have loud, bright, in-your-face graphics.
It doesn't have a physics-defying trick system that sees you triple backflipping over canyons.
It doesn't have a soundtrack full of nu-metal bangers to spur you on.
What it does have, though, is that easy to pick up/hard to master attitude that some others lack.
You can play LM: D as serenely as you like, taking in the ambiance as you let gravity do its thing. Or, you can strive to be the very best in the world and beat every course in the fastest time feasible.
In a weird juxtaposition, it looks minimal but has so much to take in. Every course has multiple paths, every corner, bend and hairpin has some way of shortcut to shave off precious seconds.
Featuring that quick-fire Trials attitude of "Quick, do that again!" frustration, the reward in hitting times and targets is a thing of beauty when you get the hang of it.
