At the risk of sounding elitist or holier-than-thou, farmers are an integral part of our way of life and we salute them.

However, I don't want to get up at the crack of dawn and interact with farmyard animals.

So when Stardew Valley allows the proverbial you to trade your big city lifestyle for one of good ol' fashioned farming without the mess, count us in.

Wearing its inspiration from Harvest Moon on its rolled up sleeves, Stardew does one better than its predecessor by letting some friends become farmhands too.

Bringing that real "spirit of the community" feeling together with up to three friends, the real sense of accomplishment (despite being an open-ended game) can really be felt in this title.

It could easily be written off as a niche indie title, yet as of this year Stardew Valley has gone on to sell a staggering ten million units.

Admittedly you can't really compare it real world farming. But for a fun little simulation of it, you can't go far wrong with Stardew Valley.

But what about those that want the realistic experience...?
