10 Incredible Video Games That Should've NEVER Worked
4. Death Stranding
Right, before you start screaming at me in the comments, I understand the ire about the ending. The "Princess Beach" bit had my eyes rolling so fast I temporarily went blind.
But that aside, there's no denying the craft that went into Death Stranding, resulting in such a unique and entrancing game.
Outside of the story, the world of broken America is a joy to just... be part of.
It strikes that perfect balance of beautiful hiking simulator interspersed with some faux-horror elements with its BT fight sections. If you go in expecting something based on Kojima's lineage, you'll set yourself up for a fall.
Instead, if you go in with a calmer and open-minded approach to it, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised.
Now I know people will either be scoffing or contemplating agreeing with me as they read it. Again, this isn't a "you must play these games" list.
Instead, this is just pointing out what makes this game incredible (even if the story gets a bit wonky at times). Traversing a beautiful and sparse landscape to some Low Roar in the background is pure bliss.
