10 Incredibly Moving Scenes In Video Games Ruined By Player Input
5. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Killing Zakhaev
Widely regarded as one of the best Call of Duty games, the first Modern Warfare's story is gripping and fraught with despair. After a long haul through the action-packed campaign, you and your team find yourself fighting off the enemy on a collapsing bridge. Outmanned and outgunned, you make your final stand against your attackers in one last hurrah. Knocked unconscious by an explosion, protagonist Soap MacTavish is forced to watch on helplessly once he comes to as his fellow soldiers are executed by primary antagonist Imran Zakhaev and his cronies. Out of nowhere, Russian loyalists attack Zakhaev's convoy, buying you enough time to be slid a pistol by your superior, Captain Price, who doesn't have a decent shot. You lift the pistol, take aim at your target and...it's a nightmare. What I'm sure was intended to be a straight forward "gun em down" becomes an exercise of trial and error. I found myself constantly dying because I wasn't able to kill everyone in time, I went from engagement to frustration as I kept trying to shoot Zakhaev and his bodyguards before they shot me. I experimented with various orders, from left-to-right, right-to-left, kill Zakhaev first, kill his men first. It should have been much more forgiving, instead the punch this scene was supposed to pack is diminished by restarts and anger as you fire your gun like a mad man and look like an idiot.
