Burt Reynolds' appearance as himself as the Mayor of Steelport is also actually on the second strangest celebrity cameo in the Saints Row series. The Third took things in an increasingly surreal direction, but it was the latest in the franchise that really took the biscuit. That's the one that saw you playing as the leader of the Third Street Saints, a street gang, who's become the President Of The United States. Who gets stuck in a virtual reality based on Steelport, where you fight off an alien invasion. And you have a bunch of superpowers thanks to some Matrix-style hacking of said simulation, which gives you a helping hand in defeating the extraterrestrial threat. And you know what else you have in your toolbox? Your Vice President. Who is Keith David. David is probably best known for his supporting roles in a handful of eighties John Carpenter films: he's the only other survivor of The Thing, alongside Kurt Russell, a key part of that deliciously ambiguous ending; he's also the guy that Rowdy Roddy Piper wrestles with in a back alley in They Live, refusing to put on some magic sunglasses, a fight that was recreated shot-for-shot in the South Park episode Cripple Fight. Oh and he was the creepy-as-eff dude who pays to have sex with a down-on-her-luck Jennifer Connelly in Requiem For A Dream, which is decidedly less fun. Keith David is something of a cult star, but a star nonetheless - which makes his cameo in Saints Row IV, as himself, as the Vice President, all the more strange. You just don't expect a Hollywood actor to betray you and your crew to a bunch of marauding UFOs.
