10 Infamously Banned Games From Around The World

1. Homefront €“ South Korea

Homefront Homefront is a hard hitting narrative driven action title, that should have been a co-op title, why they didn't bother, I will never know. The game puts you in control of a resistance movement who are tangled in a fight with a near future North Korean communist military occupation of the USA. Although released in 2011, the story of Homefront had the eerily accurate foresight on the death of Kim Jong-il when the story jumped to 2013. The marketing for the game was taken to be serious news stories as non-gamers thought a war had actually broke out, considering it was launching shortly after the North Korean artillery strike on Yeonpyeong Island. South Korea decided to ban the release of Homefront to avoid increasing diplomatic tensions with North Korea. The game was also heavily edited for the Japanese release with all references to North Korea removed and replaced with "That place in the north," which could have been an attack on Santa. Along with the controversial story line and intense marketing campaign, THQ released 10,000 balloons as a publicity stunt at the San Francisco developer's conference. Despite angering many Koreans, THQ also angered local environmentalists with this stunt as the balloons fell into San Francisco bay, which was the least of their worries to be fair. If we have left any obvious choices out please let us know in the comments below. Similarly if you enjoyed or were outraged by any of the titles on the list then feel free to bellow your opinions also.
