10 Infuriating Video Game Levels You Forgot You Hated
10. The Sniper Battle - The Last Of Us
Otherwise known as How To Swiftly Remind People They're Playing A Video Game, by Naughty Dog, this section comes just as you're exploring a dilapidated string of suburban homes alongside new characters' Henry and Sam, making for a jarring reminder that under the hood LoU still wants you to engage in some trial and error gunplay.
A far cry from Metal Gear Solid 3's tactful showdown that saw both you and enemy sniper The End pick and choose every position to get the drop on each other, LoU's sniper section resorts to putting their guy in a nest way up top, ensuring that with no idea of how visible you are, advancing towards them then gets you seared to ribbons in two shots or less.
It's not absolute torture, but the meatiest parts of Naughty Dog's masterpiece are easily the story or character-focussed ones, and having that side of things grind to a halt as you dealt with an instant death-dealing sniper who could tag you from any angle regardless of where his rifle pointed sticks out all the more when the rest of the game is so spectacular.
