10 Infuriating Video Game Levels You Forgot You Hated

9. Slippery Climb - Crash Bandicoot

Crash bandicoot
Naughty Dog

Another Naughty Dog entry, as the first Crash Bandicoot is rarely regarded as being a particularly hard game - although that label clearly isn't from anyone who's spent any time getting through it's many insanely complex later levels.

Crash was the first major platformer to prove the genre could work in 3D, mixing up over-shoulder cameras with occasional side-on views - and it was the latter that made this hellacious creation a complete nightmare to survive. Not only could you barely see where you going, but the line through the level was comprised of moving platforms, enemies that had to be bounced off and instant-death traps you'd catch the edges of no matter how hard you tried.

The worst thing? It was all done on one checkpoint, which when you combine with the finite amount of lives you were afforded to get through, makes this easily one of the most annoying creations in gaming history.
