10 Infuriatingly Overpowered Video Game Enemies

1. Scions - Mass Effect 2

When one thinks of "overpower enemies" and "Mass Effect trilogy," a couple of things jump to mind. Perhaps it's the Banshee, a teleporting Reaper offspring that can insta-kill if it gets close enough. Or the Geth Ghosts, which is basically what would happen if Spider-Man were an AI. Or literally anyone with a rocket launcher.

One rises above the rest, however: the Scion. These hulking monstrosities are encased in armor, so that already limits offensive capabilities. You could easily unload your entire heavy weapons armor into a single Scion, and still have to take out the rest of the field.

Their worst feature is easily their gun. It sends shockwaves through the entire map, instantly dropping your shields if you're unlucky enough to get caught in the crossfire. Also, it has a tendency to stun the player, instantly making you much more susceptible to damage. Facing these requires cover, but even that comes with a few caveats.

Scions are always accompanied by the zombie-like husks, meaning it's difficult to stay in cover for too long without being forced to move.

Secondly, unlike most other enemies in the game, Scions instead move slowly toward the player, constantly forcing you to relocate.

And finally, for some bizarre reason, sometimes the cover you've chosen just isn't good enough, and it'll do damage anyway.

All in all, Scions were an annoying blight on an otherwise phenomenal game.
