10 Innovative Games That Are Never Getting Released

7. The City of Metronome

The City of Metronome This curious-looking adventure game first surfaced at E3 2005, and soon enough became a hotly-anticipated title for the PS3, boasting an incredible steampunk aesthetic, but more to the point innovating the very way we play games. Sound would play a huge role in how you navigated the world, using it to battle enemies, complete quests and even control other characters. Not much more information than that was ever released, but it was certainly enough to pique the interest of gamers. In 2007, the game was de-prioritised as its strangeness as well as its innovative mechanics apparently made it a hard sell to publishers. Though the developers, Tarsier Studios, now have a few games under their belt, it seems unlikely that they will return to a project that seems so commercially stagnant (at least in the eyes of silly publishers).
