10 INSANE Game Plots You Won't Believe Exist
7. Rhythm Thief And The Emperor's Treasure
Merging rhythm-based gameplay with a puzzle adventure plot makes for an interesting game even before the resurrected power-hungry Napoleon makes his appearance. The plot of Rhythm Thief is unabashedly eccentric, along with most of its main cast and minigames.
The main character here is Raphael, or Phantom R, a young gentleman thief, constantly ducking and dodging the French police force in style, as he searches for clues regarding his missing father.
Accompanied by his loyal dog, Fondue, it is during one of these heists that Raphael encounters Marie. She possesses a violin embossed with a strange emblem identical to the one Raphael himself has on his bracelet.
Intrigued, they continue investigating together to discover who Marie’s birth parents may be, as well as how Napoleon could possibly have been resurrected. This all takes place in an idyllic Paris setting, as Raphael neatly hops across rooftops and Marie plays her violin across a multitude of addictive rhythm grade.
Having been designed for the 3DS, the game integrates touch controls, as well as certain minigames relying on gyroscope controls. Each minigame links neatly to the events of the plot, however, so the story and gameplay mesh coherently.
