1. Pokemon: A War Zone
Once again, Pokemon appears on this list, again in regards to the first generation of games released in the popular adventure role-playing franchise, Pokemon Red and Blue. Once again you control the player as you travel around Kanto, but something isn't quiet right on your journey, and the fact that you are a 10 year old traveling without supervision, through jungles and dangerous pathways with a maximum of 6 pets at a time to protect you. The biggest question seems to be where are all the male adults of Kanto? The theory is that the events of Pokemon take place in the midst, or at the end of, a large scale war, which has forced several changes in the Pokemon society which form a large part of the format of the game, such as the fact that Ash and his main rival, Gary, don't appear to have a male parent figure. Ash, especially, epitomizes this being raised by only his mother, with no word of where Ash's father is. There are numerous parts of the game fans of the theory have pointed to which support this theory, from pointing to the fact that trainers, who battle for money to send back home, are all children, or are very young. The police force and hospital workers are all female, and the males left behind are part of the criminal gang known as "Team Rocket". Another clue is in the Vermillion city Gym Leader, Lt Surge, that's right, an army guy that looks like he has suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as he is holed up in his gym with his electric Pokemon. To add more fuel to this theory, as you prepare to battle Surge, Surge states "you won't live long in combat" and "my electric Pokemon saved me during the war", suggesting that not only has there been a conflict, but that Ash is a serious risk of having to fight in the war.
