The best kinds of ports are ones that take already great games and do something fresh with them, using the new hardware that they’ve graced their presence with.

When the previously Xbox-exclusive Ninja Gaiden was brought over to the PlayStation 3 as Ninja Gaiden Sigma, developers Team Ninja decided to amp the game up with new content. One of these features, Ryu’s ninpo spells, took advantage of the console’s gyro-compatible Sixaxis controller and players could charge their attacks for greater damage by shaking the gamepad.

When it came to the case for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the team went a completely different route. The game’s stunningly controversial marketing featured Japanese players mesmerised by the pixelated breasts of Ninja Gaiden’s women jiggling like bowls of jelly in zero gravity.

Indeed you can take a break from Ninja Gaiden’s intense and punishing action to control the impossible jiggle physics of your female companions. It provides no benefit other than titillation and cheap marketing, and has the unfortunate downside of teaching teenage boys some pretty glaring inaccuracies about how the human body works.

The Ninja Gaiden series is sorely underrated and it's hard-as-nails gameplay would probably flourish in today's gaming climate but this is one feature that should stay in the early 2000s where it belongs.
