10 Insanely Awful Video Games In Famous Franchises

8. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

The Resident Evil series didn't really look like it was going places after the kind-of-OK-but-not-really fifth entry, but there was still just enough quality in it for us to hope that Operation Raccoon City could get things back on track. And then you hear that it's a team-based shooter - not starring Barry Burton - in which you control on of several quite literally faceless grunts. The only horror you'll find in this tepid experience is in the gameplay, the story (which lacks any of the cheesy charm of other Resi games), and the gunplay, which is all-pervasive and hopelessly dreary. The series' prestigious ties to the survival horror genre were all but severed, leaving us with a bland shooter that's barely identifiable as a Resi game. OCR is not only the worst major Resi, but the one that confirmed the end of the series as a big player in the industry. It's little surprise that since then, that Capcom have mostly taken to remaking the much-loved earlier games, which continue to be the best ones. Don't worry, Resi 1, 2 and 3, we'll never forget the good times we shared - the Jill Sandwiches, the abstruse puzzles and the love-to-hate-em tank controls.
