10 Insanely Awful Video Games In Famous Franchises

2. Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly

Speaking of dinosaurs - but with wings and therefore colloquially known as dragons - Spyro used to command quite a bit of respect on the 3D platformer scene. Unbeknownst to many of us, his career actually continued beyond the PS1, but his first PS2 outing, Enter the Dragonfly, encapsulates why most of us didn't pay him much attention since the year 2000. The game's publishers, Universal, were so determined to rush the game through in time for Christmas 2002 that they apparently deemed it acceptable to release it with nine levels, horrific frame-rates, and a villain that gets mentioned in the introduction but is subsequently absent from the rest of the game. Despite looking quite pretty, Enter the Dragonfly has a 'hurried development' feel once you start playing, and its case wasn't helped by the fact that it wasn't made by the safe hands at Insomnia Games (who made its predecessors). The worlds feel empty and dreary, and a series that once felt like a roaring fire of potential was reduced here to a spluttery, smokey cough. Considering it's a 3D platformer, there are hardly any actual platforms in the game, as you wander across mostly flat levels collecting the eponymous dragonflies... before thinking 'What the hell happened to you, Spyro?' and somberly putting the game to rest for good.
