It seems strange to me that Nintendo have games about racing real-world cars and running from the police. Perhaps I feel this way as I never personally picked up an Asphalt game until now, though the series has been Nintendo’s go-to car game since the early 2000s during the DS era. There are many Nintendo fans who hold this game franchise close to their hearts, and those fans are no doubt thrilled to see that the ninth main-series instalment of the game is free to play.

Even from an outsider perspective, Asphalt 9: Legends is a truly beautiful game with stunning real-world graphics – something I didn’t expect to such a degree from the Switch, even after Breath of the Wild. With magnificent lighting, a realistic weather system, and next-level particle effects, this game is truly breathtaking. This fun arcade-style racer takes a carefree approach to a genre that has in the past been dark and gritty, giving the game a truly Nintendo-esque feel to it.
