10 Insanely Long Open-World Games That ARE Worth Finishing
8. The Witcher 3
One of the most daunting mixes of incredibly large and incredibly dense comes in CDPR's true masterpiece, The Witcher 3.
You will not find all the stuff to do in this game, not on your first playthrough at least. Not only are there dozens upon dozens of quests in every hub world area you visit, but a lot of them are on strict timers, or are dependent on events either happening first or not happening before taking them. The world of The Witcher 3 is alive and constantly moving, with or without you.
Add onto that the myriad ways even the smallest choice you make can affect the game world, and you have a game whose density and complexity can prove intimidating to first-time players.
But it only feels that intimidating at first. Once you get into the swing of things, you stop thinking so hard about the game's many moving parts, as the game's wonderful atmosphere and beautifully written narrative sucks you in until you've just given yourself over to it.
You eventually just decide that whatever happens, happens, and you'll deal with it when it comes. Granted, there are some quests you should perhaps put more thought into, so that your badass teleporting adopted daughter doesn't horribly die, or you don't ruin your relationship with two beautiful women by trying to manipulate them into a three-way. Just sayin'.
