10 Insanely Long Open-World Games That ARE Worth Finishing

Breath of the Wild was already an insanely long game, but then Tears of the Kingdom came along to say "Actually no we can go BIGGER!" And the really crazy part is that it worked, and felt completely natural.

But make no mistake, this game IS insanely long, even with the many new forms of traversal the game gives you - from ancient hang gliders to buildable vehicles, to Super Fighting Robots. However, pressing on through the game has the benefit of making the game infinitely more fun.

See, you have to upgrade your battery power in order to operate larger and more complex automatons, at least for more than a few seconds. If you want to do the absurd nonsense you see people pull off on TikTok or YouTube, then you gotta go out there and upgrade yourself.

But the real trick to what makes this game worth finishing is that it is a sequel to BOTW, and the way it plays with that. Zelda games rarely get direct continuations like this, and Tears takes full advantage of that, giving fans a look at how things have progressed for Link, Zelda, and Hyrule. Which, in turn, makes Ganon's disruption of that all the more shocking.

Tears of the Kingdom gets you to care enough about getting to the end of its incredibly long runtime because you know that doing so will really mean something.
