9. Cassian Andor / Jan Ors Connection
Another apparent similarity between Jyn Erso and Kyle Katarn is their choice in sidekicks. Jyn has Cassian Andor and Kyle Katarn had Jan Ors - A name awfully close to the Rogue One protagonist. Both Cassian and Jan appear to be the ones responsible for recruiting their respective characters to the rebel cause.
It'll be interesting to see how deep into Rogue One fans get before the first meeting between Cassian and Jyn takes place. It's possible Cassian has been pursuing Jyn for quite some time or that she pops up onto his radar by chance.
By the time each story begins to unfold, Cassian / Jan are already strong characters within the rebel ranks. While Cassian's backstory has not yet been fleshed out, he may have similar beginnings to Jan prior to their dealings with the Rebel Alliance.
Where Jan played a pivotal role in keeping Kyle Katarn focused on the mission at hand, Cassian appears to be the same type of anchor to Jyn. Jan was Kyle's handler to the Rebellion and it appears Cassian takes on a similar role after Jyn's apparent briefing with Mon Mothma. There's not denying Cassian will have his hands full with Jyn in the early stages of their relationship together as companions.
